Night at the Opera House Series<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas hosts its first 2017 Night at the Opera House <\/em>Saturday, Feb. 11, with a free screening of the 1931 classic “Little Caesar.”<\/p>\n

The screening begins at 6:30 p.m. in the museum’s theater in the historic ghost town of Thurber. Free refreshments will be served at intermission.<\/p>\n

Produced by Warner Brothers, the crime film tells the story of a hoodlum, Caesar Enrico “Rico” Bandello—played by Edward Robinson, who ascends the ranks of organized crime until he reaches its upper echelons. The story was adopted from the novel with the same name by William R. Burnett.<\/p>\n

“Little Caesar” was Robinson’s breakthrough role and immediately made him a film star. The movie is often listed as one of the first full-fledged gangster flicks.<\/p>\n

The W.K. Gordon Center, a Tarleton museum and research facility, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
