Students with less than 30 transferrable hours must have a GPA of 2.8 or better, and those with less than 11 hours must meet Tarleton’s first-time freshman admission requirements.

The partnership also includes a “reverse transfer” process that allows Collin College students to complete their associate degree while working on a bachelor’s degree at Tarleton.

“This partnership expands a long and successful relationship between the two institutions,” said Tarleton Provost Dr. Karen Murray. “Anything we can do to make it easier for students to continue and complete their education is a priority for us. Access to a high-quality, affordable four-year degree program should be available to anyone with the desire to pursue it, and our collaboration with Collin College provides that opportunity for many North Texas students.”

Representatives from Tarleton will visit Collin College regularly to provide academic advising and workshops for students, and students enrolled in the two-year school are encouraged to visit Tarleton’s Stephenville campus and the university’s Fort Worth location as well as explore online Global Campus learning opportunities.

“We want to provide Collin College students with a Tarleton experience even before they start their studies with us,” Murray said.

Administrators from both institutions began meeting in 2016 to discuss the partnership and “craft an agreement that truly benefits the students of Collin College,” explained Dr. Anthony Edwards, director of Tarleton’s Global Campus and a key player in creating the partnership.

“This strengthened relationship is part of Tarleton’s effort to increase the scope of our partnerships with community colleges in North Texas, and provide more opportunities for students at two-year schools to transition to a four-year university of Tarleton’s caliber.”

Collin College serves more than 53,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates. The only public college in Collin County, the school is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development. In addition, the college operates the Collin Higher Education Center, which serves 3,100 additional students each year.

Tarleton, a member of The Texas A&M University System, provides a student-focused, value-driven educational experience marked by academic innovation and exemplary service, and dedicated to transforming students into tomorrow’s professional leaders. With campuses in Stephenville, Fort Worth, Waco, Midlothian and online, Tarleton engages with its communities to provide real-world learning experiences and to address societal needs while maintaining its core values of integrity, leadership, tradition, civility, excellence and service.

#

Contact: Dr. Anthony Edwards, Global Campus Director
817-717-3331
aedwards@tarleton.edu

A partnership between Tarleton State University and Collin County Community College District will make it easier for transfer students to continue and complete their education at a four-year institution.

[423,425
430,431,457,458
post-29892","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-academics-research","category-campus-community","tag-academic-affairs","tag-administration","tag-tarleton-state-fort-worth","tag-tarleton-state-online
["Academics & Research","Campus & Community
Academics & Research","Campus & Community
Academic Affairs","Administration","Tarleton State Fort Worth","Tarleton State Online
Academic Affairs","Administration","Tarleton State Fort Worth","Tarleton State Online
["GET
