Editor”s Choice Award Winners<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Three Tarleton State University students have been selected for special recognition in the 23rd volume of Anthology<\/em>, the student literary publication released to the public on Thursday during a reception in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center.<\/p>\n

Editor’s Choice Awards recipients are:
• Colin Craig<\/strong>, senior digital media studies major from Granbury – Outstanding Photography, with special recognition for “Bass;”
• Abigail Morgan Fesmire<\/strong>, recent alumna majoring in nursing from Waco – Outstanding Prose, with special recognition for “Beneath the Red Flag;” and
• Sara Watts<\/strong>, freshman English major from Stephenville – Outstanding Photograph entitled “Commerce Street Rain.”<\/p>\n

Charles Robitaille, owner of Stephenville’s Allied Body & Frame and Anthology<\/em>’s long-time corporate sponsor, presented the three Editors’ Choice Awards. Each winner received $100.<\/p>\n

More than 250 works were submitted for possible inclusion in the 23rd volume, with a total of 72 written works and 182 art and digital entries.<\/p>\n

This year’s volume, printed with a cover highlighting Tarleton’s centennial as founding member of The Texas A&M University System, is dedicated to the late professor of sociology Dr. Leslie Stanley-Stevens who passed away in June 2016. Stanley-Steven’s short prose piece, “Nobody’s Fault” was included in this volume. This work originally appeared in New Texas 2001<\/em>, and demonstrates her wit, edgy sense of humor and ability to make those around her smile.<\/p>\n

In addition to those students receiving Editor’s Choice Awards, other contributors to the 2017 edition of Anthology<\/em> are Maria Beasley, Diamond Beverly, Alexis Brown, Aleisha Bryeans, Marissa Burns, Nicole Carter, Kiyana Cherry, Rebecca Cox, Cutler Will Davidson, Brenna Donnelly, Sheena Dorton, Chad Eaton, Case Galbraith, Darcy Gibson, Blake Goldsmith, Emilly Gomez, Teejay Handley, Lacie Harris, Michael Allen Helbert, Rachel Hitt, Kaitlin Hooper, Matthew Huskins, Elieyah Hutcheson, Haley Ivey, Justin Knippers, Rhonda C. Martin, Ashley Mata, Treyson Modgling, Luke Munchrath, Alvaro Munoz, Caitlyn Oxford, Hanna Rivera, Josh Sexton, E. Dave Thomas, Rachel Tuggle, Meagan E. Webb and Rachel Williams.<\/p>\n

Students featured as part of the online gallery are Natalie Bauman, Maria Beasley, Alexis Brown, Kelsey Brown, Marissa Burns, Tareah R. Bush, Rebecca Cox, Colin Craig, Sterling Devins, Alexcianna Diaz, Case Galbraith, Blake Goldsmith, Olya Haun, Kaitlin Hooper, Haley Ivey, Justin Knippers, Arliss Lewis, Brian Marin, Joshua McLatchy, Treyson Modgling, Phillip Mullen, Luke Munchrath, Alvaro Munoz, J Newhart, Gabriel Vasquez and Sara Watts.<\/p>\n

Ashytn Brooks, Samantha Brown and Daphne Ward are editors of the 2017 publication. Benni Konvicka and Marilyn Robitaille are managing editors.<\/p>\n
