STEPHENVILLE, Texas—The Texas A&M University System’s Board of Regents today approved changes to Tarleton’s admission policies, beginning with the 2018-19 academic year.<\/p>\n
Changes affect incoming freshmen, transfer students and graduate students.<\/p>\n
“The two biggest changes to our standards involve the Texan Transfer Pathway Program (TTPP), and allowing international graduate and undergraduate students more choices in satisfying the English Proficiency Requirement,” said Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management Javier Garza. <\/p>\n
“Tarleton is very interested in developing the TTPP by working with our two-year college partners to intentionally forge pathways to college completion for students who do not meet Tarleton’s admission standards as entering freshmen,” Garza said, “or have not accumulated sufficient college credit to attend one of our outreach locations in Fort Worth, Midlothian or Waco. Many of these students still demonstrate great talent and potential for college success.”<\/p>\n
Additionally, international students seeking admission to Tarleton now will have an expanded set of assessment options. Achieving the minimum cutoff score on any of the tests would meet the English Proficiency Requirement. A minimum cutoff score for the iTEP (International Test of English Proficiency) is now formally established, and the PTE Academic test will join the iTEP, TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System) as suitable assessment options to meet this requirement.<\/p>\n
