STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Lauren Bane scooted to a first-go 6.3 time in goat tying to pace Tarleton State University’s efforts in Monday competition at the 69th annual College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyo.<\/p>\n

Bane, making her third CNFR appearance, rested in third place as Tuesday slack sessions began. Also cracking the top 10 in the rodeo’s early stages is tie-down roper Reid Zapalac, who rolled to a 10.2 time on his first calf, Monday, good for seventh place.<\/p>\n

Though many competitors were in action in Sunday’s Broncs, Bulls and Breakaway performance and in slack sessions Monday, regularly scheduled 7 p.m. nightly performances start today and run through Saturday.<\/p>\n

Additionally, several Tarleton ropers and riders took to the Casper arena for slack sessions this morning. Saddle bronc rider Jace Lane, bareback rider Kody Lamb, tie-down ropers Zapalac and Kyle Parrish and the team roping duo of Zapalac and Zach Kraus were in action early today.<\/p>\n

Zapalac, Kraus and barrel racer Lindsey McLeod represent Tarleton in the evening performance.<\/p>\n

Tarleton’s men’s and women’s rodeo teams both enter the CNFR as National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Southwest Region champions and qualified for the CNFR for the eighth consecutive year.<\/p>\n
