New Tarleton Degree Program Offerings<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—The Texas High Education Coordinating Board (THECB) has approved new degree programs for Tarleton State University’s outreach centers in Fort Worth and Waco.<\/p>\n

A bachelor’s in agribusiness will be available this fall at Tarleton’s Waco center on the campus of McLennan Community College, and a master’s in applied psychology will be available at the Fort Worth center on Camp Bowie Boulevard.<\/p>\n

“This is a positive step forward,” said Tarleton Provost Dr. Karen Murray. “These new degree programs support Tarleton’s longstanding commitment to academic excellence at our outreach centers and improve employment opportunities for students.”<\/p>\n

One of only three in Texas, Tarleton’s graduate-level degree in applied psychology prepares students for careers in mental health, market research and human resources. The 30-hour program includes thesis and non-thesis tracks. The non-thesis track requires a comprehensive exam to graduate.<\/p>\n

“This program is unique in that it combines psychological principles and research methods with best practices for the contemporary challenges facing today’s organizations, their employees and consumers,” said Dr. Barry Lambert, dean of Tarleton’s College of Graduate Studies. “From the corporate environment to the public sector, the expected rate of job growth for applied psychologists over the next several years is an astonishing 53 percent.”<\/p>\n

Students enrolled in Tarleton’s undergraduate degree program in agribusiness can choose from four concentrations: agricultural economics, agribusiness management, dairy business management, and personal and small business financial planning. To complete the bachelor’s degree in agribusiness at Tarleton’s Waco center, students must have at least 30 transferrable credit hours and a 2.0 GPA.<\/p>\n
