Interim Dean of CHSHS Named<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Dr. David Weissenburger has been named interim dean of Tarleton State University’s College of Health Sciences and Human Services, effective Aug. 1.<\/p>\n

Weissenburger has been chief of staff to Tarleton President F. Dominic Dottavio since July 2014. During his 18-year career with the university, he also has led the Department of Psychology and Counseling and served as associate vice president of enrollment management.<\/p>\n

“We’re honored to have Dr. Weissenburger take the helm of our newest college,” Dottavio said. “His institutional leadership, academic excellence and dedication to student success will ensure that our health sciences and human services programs continue to rate among the best in the state and the nation.”<\/p>\n

The College of Health Sciences and Human Services was created last fall to better serve more than 1,600 students already enrolled in successful, established programs in medical lab sciences, public health, social work, counseling and nursing.<\/p>\n

In response to Texas’ growing demand for health sciences and human services professionals, the college offers programs at Tarleton’s Stephenville campus and learning centers in Fort Worth, Waco and Midlothian, as well as via the university’s online Global Campus.<\/p>\n

“Tarleton’s College of Health Sciences and Human Services is well-respected throughout North Texas and beyond, our graduates are in high demand, and our faculty are considered experts in their fields,” Weissenburger said. “This is an exciting opportunity to contribute toward its advancement.”<\/p>\n

Weissenburger earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western Illinois University and his master’s from Stephen F. Austin State University. He has a doctorate in psychology from Texas Woman’s University.<\/p>\n

He is recognized as a certified psychologist and qualified intellectual disability professional by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, and a licensed psychological associate by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.<\/p>\n

Weissenburger is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science and the Texas Counseling Association.<\/p>\n
