STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas presents an evening of comedy, magic and misunderstandings with a free screening of the 1935 Shakespearean classic “Midsummer Night’s Dream” on Saturday, Aug. 12.<\/p>\n
Part of the ongoing Night at the Opera House series, the screening begins at 6:30 p.m. in the museum’s theater in the historic ghost town of Thurber. Free refreshments will be served at intermission.<\/p>\n
Produced by Warner Brothers, the romantic comedy is about the events surrounding the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus, and the Queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta. The classic features a young Mickey Rooney as a mischievous court jester named Puck and is sure to delight viewers of all ages.<\/p>\n
Shooting for the film had to be rearranged after Rooney broke his leg while skiing. According to his memoirs, Jack Warner was furious and threatened to kill him then break his other leg.<\/p>\n
