STEPHENVILLE, Texas—As a preventative measure, Tarleton State University is moving 80 students from Bender Hall, an older residential facility, into other open residential spaces on campus.<\/p>\n
After the presence of mold was found on air conditioning vents, the university decided to move all students from the building for the semester.<\/p>\n
“We want to take every precaution to assure the health and well-being of our students,” said Tarleton President F. Dominic Dottavio. “As a student-focused university, student welfare is our top priority.”<\/p>\n
Students were informed of the plans at a meeting on Monday evening, with moves taking place this week. The university will provide moving assistance.<\/p>\n
“Crews worked Friday to clean the air conditioning vents in Bender Hall,” said Dr. Mike Leese, associate vice president of student affairs, “but the university made the decision to move students as a precaution.”<\/p>\n
Tarleton can accommodate nearly 4,000 students on campus, with five major additions in the past four years, including Heritage, Integrity, Traditions South, Traditions North and Honors Hall. Bender Hall residents will move into the newer facilities at the same price.<\/p>\n
