STEPHENVILLE, Texas— Early this afternoon Tarleton State University issued an accidental Code Purple alert message regarding shots being fired. No shots were fired nor was there any other cause for alarm.<\/p>\n
The university deeply regrets this error and any concerns it may have caused. The message was being prepared as part of a drill planned for this Sunday, Oct. 8. It was not intended to be sent.<\/p>\n
The message went out on social media channels and the university app.<\/p>\n
This Sunday Tarleton will be the site for a practice exercise involving Stephenville and Erath County first responders, as well as the University Police Department and the Department of Nursing.<\/p>\n
