Night at the Opera House Series<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas presents a frightfully entertaining evening just in time for Halloween with a free screening of the 1935 classic Bride of Frankenstein<\/em> on Saturday, Oct. 28.<\/p>\n

Part of the ongoing Night at the Opera House series, the screening begins at 6:30 p.m. in the museum’s theater in the historic ghost town of Thurber. Free refreshments will be served at intermission.<\/p>\n

Produced by Universal Pictures, the science-fiction horror film stars Boris Karloff as the Monster and is a sequel to the 1931 hit Frankenstein,<\/em> rooted in the subplot of the original novel of the same name by Mary Shelley.<\/p>\n

Since its release, the film’s reputation has grown, and it has been hailed as director James Whale’s masterpiece. In 1998, the motion picture was added to the U.S. National Film Registry, deemed “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant.<\/p>\n

The W.K. Gordon Center, a Tarleton museum and research facility, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
