FORT WORTH, Texas—The Rotary Club of Fort Worth South is turning to Tarleton State University public relations students to attract a new generation of members.<\/p>\n

The challenge for the Tarleton PR students is to help raise awareness about Rotary and the local club’s community service projects with a rebranding message.<\/p>\n

The 15 participating students are in Dr. Sarah Maben’s public relations course this semester.<\/p>\n

“We are thankful the Rotary Club of Fort Worth South is giving this opportunity to our students,” she said. “Students see firsthand how working with a client is a process and, at times, a balancing act, but overall very rewarding when you see the impact you can make.”<\/p>\n

Students are working through a strategic campaign process that involves primary research, planning and creative efforts. If the Rotary Club members like the proposals, Maben is hopeful the students can complete the cycle by producing the campaigns and evaluating their effectiveness.<\/p>\n

The Tarleton teams will make their initial presentation at the club’s weekly meeting tomorrow. Following the interactive presentation, each Rotary Club member will vote for a rebranding campaign.<\/p>\n

Dr. Lora Helvie-Mason, head of Tarleton’s Communication Studies Department, said, “Partnerships like the one with the Rotary Club of Fort Worth South give our students real-world applications of what they are learning in their courses.”<\/p>\n
