STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University Police Department will host a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training course on Tuesday, Dec. 19, on the Stephenville campus. The training is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
Led by Tarleton’s Sgt. Clell Murray, the two-hour CRASE training workshop takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 178 of the university’s Business Building.<\/p>\n
“This course is ideal for any business owner or employee who would like training on how to deal with an active shooter situation,” Murray said. “The course includes actual video footage and re-enactments of mass shootings. Participants learn how to pre-plan and react to increase chances for survival.<\/p>\n
“As more people understand how to properly deal with an active shooter event, more lives will be saved,” Murray explained. “Tarleton is committed to the safety and well-being of its students, faculty and staff, and we work hand-in-hand with Erath County and Stephenville area law enforcement officers to protect our community. With increased knowledge and training, individuals can protect themselves and reduce the dangers that come with an active shooter situation.”<\/p>\n
