The training takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 102 of Tarleton&rsquo;s Lamar Johanson Science Building in partnership with Erath County Emergency Management and the Cross Timbers Amateur Radio Club.<\/p>\n<p>No pre-registration is necessary.<\/p>\n<p>The class is for organized storm spotters and\/or anyone with an interest in severe weather and is part of a regional severe weather preparedness campaign that includes training sessions across 46 counties in north and central Texas. For other classes in the region, go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weather.gov\/fwd\/skywarnsch?sptrsch\">http:\/\/www.weather.gov\/fwd\/skywarnsch?sptrsch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to thunderstorm formation and features associated with severe and non-severe storms, the training includes a close look at the meteorology behind the Canton area tornado outbreak in 2017. The program also highlights severe weather safety and how to report information to local public safety officials. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;By coming to this training session, attendees will gain a better understanding of Texas&rsquo; severe weather season,&rdquo; says Tom Bradshaw, meteorologist-in-charge of the NWS Fort Worth Office. &ldquo;Waiting until storms are on your doorstep is not the time to start thinking about severe weather preparedness. We hope you attend these free sessions to learn more about the severe storms that impact the region every year.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The NWS in Fort Worth provides forecasts, warnings and weather services for 46 counties in north and north-central Texas.
