Theatre at Tarleton Presents<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Theatre at Tarleton presents Jean-Paul Sartre’s “No Exit” at 7:30 p.m. nightly April 10 through 14 in the Clyde Wells Fine Arts Center on the Stephenville campus.<\/p>\n

The play, featuring Sartre’s iconic line “Hell is other people,” is about three souls escorted to Hell and locked inside by a mysterious valet.  Freshman theater major Caleb Badgley plays the valet.<\/p>\n

Each expect to find devices of eternal torture but, instead, discover a plain room where the trio are forced to admit reasons for their damnation.<\/p>\n

Cradeau, played by senior Justin Fite, says he was executed for being a pacifist, while Estelle, played by senior Ellen Houlden, insists that a mistake has been made. Inez, played by junior Joy Serene Adams, however, is the only one to demand that they stop lying to themselves and confess to their moral crimes. She refuses to believe that they have all ended up in the room by accident and soon realizes that they have been placed together to make each other miserable. She ultimately deduces that they are to be one another’s torturers.<\/p>\n

Prudence Jones, associate professor of theater, directs; Carol Stavish, associate professor of theater, is scenic director; senior Jesus Rodriguez is stage manager; and senior Cedric Kimble-Thomas, is lighting designer.<\/p>\n

Junior Oscar Gonzales is in charge of sound design; sophomore Jessica Privett is hair and make-up designer; and sophomore Abby Tucker is costume designer.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for senior citizens, children, and Tarleton faculty and staff; and $5 for Tarleton students.<\/p>\n

The box office opens one week before the start of the performance and will be open weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m. The box office number is 254-968-9634.<\/p>\n
