Dr. Michael McLatchy<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — As part of Tarleton State University’s annual Giving Day, the children of Dr. Michael McLatchy today donated $8,000 toward the scholarship bearing his name.<\/p>\n

McLatchy taught hydrology for 20 years, the longest service by a professor within the department. Following his retirement in 2007, McLatchy’s friends and Tarleton’s Hydrology Club established the scholarship for full-time hydrology and environmental engineering students.<\/p>\n

McLatchy passed away last summer, and his family chose Giving Day to honor his legacy with a gift to the scholarship.<\/p>\n

“Students and teaching were one of our dad’s passions,” said McLatchy’s son Joseph, who works as data analytics manager at Tarleton. “The scholarship is a testament to the rapport he had with his students. We want to honor his passion and ensure his legacy remains in place.”<\/p>\n

Tarleton’s annual Giving Day challenges supporters, alumni and parents to pay it forward to the university’s students through donations to scholarships, programs and activities. Gifts can be made online at http:\/\/givingday.tarleton.edu<\/a> until midnight today.<\/p>\n
