That\u2019s impressive considering this year\u2019s gifts exceed the 2017 total by more than $170,000.<\/p>\n<p>The 24-hour event took place April 17, when alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends made tax-deductible donations and pledges to the Tarleton college, program, scholarship or activity of their choice.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube Video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aL1VIqNcP6w?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Donations were collected online and at drop-off locations on the Stephenville campus as well as outreach locations in Fort Worth, Midlothian and Waco.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur donors make a huge difference in the lives of our students and the success of our university,\u201d said President F. Dominic Dottavio. \u201cWe are extremely grateful for their generosity and their confidence in the quality of education we provide. Their investment continues John Tarleton\u2019s legacy of transforming today\u2019s students into tomorrow\u2019s leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All total, 569 donors contributed 723 gifts to benefit 162 university and student programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout the overwhelming support of our donors, Tarleton would not be where it is today,\u201d said Development Director Jennifer Hawthorne. \u201cEvery gift \u2014 no matter the size \u2014will help change lives for generations to come. Thanks to everyone who made Giving Day 2018 the most successful to date.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Giving Day 2018 drew huge social media attention, with almost quadruple the response \u00a0from last year \u2014 32,091 \u201clikes,\u201d \u201cshares,\u201d \u201ccomments,\u201d \u201ctweets\u201d or \u201cviews\u201d compared with 8,000 for 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Tarleton, founding member of The Texas A&amp;M University System, provides a student-focused, value-driven educational experience, marked by academic innovation and a dedication to transform today\u2019s scholars into tomorrow\u2019s leaders.
