Students can earn concentrations in business or psychology.

“Tarleton is committed to serving the needs of working and nontraditional students across Texas,” said Dr. Denae Dorris, director of Tarleton’s Center for Transformative Learning. “With this program, we are able to offer an affordable, expedient degree option to people who are eager to return to the classroom and make a difference in the workplace.”

Eligible training, known as occupational specialization, can include coursework from a community college or technical school, military training, employer-sponsored seminars and continuing education. Students with such experience can earn up to 36 credit hours, which they will pair with university core courses and upper level electives.

Thanks to Tarleton’s online Global Campus, students can complete their B.S.A.S. degree while maintaining professional and personal obligations, or choose the traditional classroom setting.

Tarleton was one of four public institutions to receive grant money last spring from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to implement the program. Other recipients were Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, South Texas College and Texas A&M-Commerce.

The College for all Texans Foundation supported fundraising efforts for the grant, which was made possible through AT&T Aspire, Greater Texans Foundation, Kresge Foundation and Meadows Foundation.
