Help Fight Hunger in Fort Worth<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The Fort Worth campus of Tarleton State University has joined the Tarrant Area Food Bank in the Carefree Summer campaign<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the joint effort to supplement the summer diets of area residents, Tarleton will host a fundraiser and food drive to help provide nutritious food to area children, families and seniors.<\/p>\n

Donation boxes are located in Suites 103, 201 and 500, as well as in the Texan Hall Library in the Hickman Building at 6777 Camp Bowie Blvd. in Fort Worth.<\/p>\n

Plus, there are monthly activities to help promote and drive this summer campaign.<\/p>\n

For May, Staff and faculty will donate healthy snacks to be sold for $1 with all proceeds going to the fundraiser. The sale will take place the evenings of May 22nd – 24th at the Tarleton Fort Worth campus.<\/p>\n

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Challenge takes center stage in June. Employees will purchase a week’s worth of groceries using only the monetary equivalent an individual would receive in the SNAP Program. The week will end with a potluck, where participants will speak about their experiences and also hear from a Tarrant Area Food Bank representative.<\/p>\n

Featured activities for July and August will be announced later.<\/p>\n

Every dollar donated during the Carefree Summer campaign provides five meals for local people in need. The campaign runs through August 13.<\/p>\n

Tarrant Area Food Bank helps children thrive in and out of school by providing nutritious snacks and meals. They are also dedicated to ensuring that seniors with limited incomes don’t have to worry about where their next meal will come from. Thanks to TAFB, families in our community are able to sit down to enjoy nutritious meals every day. <\/p>\n
