{"id":28221,"date":"2018-06-12T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-06-12T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.tarleton.edu\/news\/tarletons-collins-less-than-a-second-out-of-first-after-first-run-at-cnfr\/"},"modified":"2021-11-12T01:38:35","modified_gmt":"2021-11-12T01:38:35","slug":"tarletons-collins-less-than-a-second-out-of-first-after-first-run-at-cnfr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/news\/tarletons-collins-less-than-a-second-out-of-first-after-first-run-at-cnfr\/","title":{"rendered":"Tarleton&#8217;s Collins less than a second out of first after first run at CNFR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<br \/>Tuesday, June 12, 2018<\/p>\n<p>STEPHENVILLE, Texas &mdash; Tarleton State University breakaway roper Baili Collins turned in a 7.2 time Monday, but other rodeo team members had a tough time in competition at the annual College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo.<\/p>\n<p>Collins, making her fifth appearance at the CNFR, is in 23rd&nbsp;place after one go-round, but trails first-place Emmalee Dubois of Utah Valley University by less than a second.<\/p>\n<p>Regional champion tie-down roper Kyle Parrish posted a 16.2 time and Tarleton teammate Wyatt Williams finished with a 23.5. The event leader is Brushton Minton of West Hills College, who flashed an impressive 8.8 on his calf Monday. Tarleton team roper Ky Bray got a no-score on his first head Monday.<\/p>\n<p>But there&rsquo;s good news.<\/p>\n<p>All four ropers still have two go-rounds to improve their standings, beginning today when all eight Tarleton qualifiers will be in action.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler Berghuis, who heads into today&rsquo;s round in third place in bareback riding, has two rides scheduled, one in morning slack and another in tonight&rsquo;s performance. Likewise, Parrish gets to rope twice today.<\/p>\n<p>Also appearing today for Tarleton are saddle bronc rider Brody Cress, bareback rider Linden Woods and breakaway roper Rylee Jo Dick.<\/p>\n<p>The CNFR continues all week.
