Doing so will enable them to complete a bachelor’s degree more quickly.

Dr. Billy Gray, head of engineering technology, said the degrees will better position students who graduate from high school and community colleges with technical credits or degrees to quickly achieve a bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field.

The program also helps meet the demand in Texas and beyond for a trained workforce in science and engineering-related fields.

“The Bachelor of Applied Science program will help ease the transition for students coming from community colleges and technical high schools who want to earn a bachelor’s degree,” Gray said. “Tarleton wants to ensure these students have every opportunity to succeed in college and the workforce.”

Tarleton’s program supports 60x30TX, the state’s higher education goals for completion, marketable skills, managing student debt and ensuring that at least 60 percent of Texans age 25 to 34 will have a college degree or certificate by 2030.

Initially, the degrees will be offered on the Stephenville campus only, with plans to expand to outreach centers in Fort Worth and Waco.

More information is available at www.tarleton.edu/engtech.

Tarleton, founding member of The Texas A&M University System, provides a student-focused, value-driven educational experience, marked by academic innovation and a dedication to transform today’s scholars into tomorrow’s leaders.
