Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas is hosting the first of two summer Discovery Days Wednesday, June 27.<\/p>\n<p>Children entering kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to the museum for hands-on science experiments, history and art.<\/p>\n<p>Gordon Center Discovery Day features two sessions &ndash; one at 10 a.m. to noon for kindergartners through second graders, and the other from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for third through fifth graders.<\/p>\n<p>The activity lineup features:<\/p>\n<p>&bull; Learning about artifacts and what museums do;<br \/>&bull; Creating your own &ldquo;artifact&rdquo; with clay; and<br \/>&bull; Science experiments about alternative energy.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free and parents are invited to join their kids for the day.<\/p>\n<p>Reservations are suggested but not required. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas, a Tarleton museum and research facility located in the historic ghost town of Thurber, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
