THURBER, Texas — Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas is hosting the first of two summer Discovery Days Wednesday, June 27.<\/p>\n
Children entering kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to the museum for hands-on science experiments, history and art.<\/p>\n
Gordon Center Discovery Day features two sessions – one at 10 a.m. to noon for kindergartners through second graders, and the other from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for third through fifth graders.<\/p>\n
The activity lineup features:<\/p>\n
• Learning about artifacts and what museums do;
• Creating your own “artifact” with clay; and
• Science experiments about alternative energy.<\/p>\n
The event is free and parents are invited to join their kids for the day.<\/p>\n

Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas, a Tarleton museum and research facility located in the historic ghost town of Thurber, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
