STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas hosts a screening of the 1934 classic Hollywood film “Anne of Green Gables” at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25.<\/p>\n

The film, part of the Gordon Center’s Night at the Opera House series, features Dawn O’Day as the title character Anne Shirley, an orphan adopted by farmer Matthew Cuthbert and his sister, Marilla. Despite the fact the pair expected a boy to help with the farm chores, Anne endears herself to her new family and community.<\/p>\n

Free refreshments will be served at intermission.<\/p>\n

The museum, in historic Thurber, is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. It is located at Exit 367 on Interstate 20 between Fort Worth and Abilene. For more information, visit www.tarleton.edu\/gordoncenter<\/a>or the museum’s Facebook page.<\/p>\n
