STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas in Thurber is hosting a Labor Day weekend picnic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1.<\/p>\n
The picnic has something for everyone and features the museum’s newest temporary exhibit highlighting the labor unions that were integral to Thurber’s early commercial success.<\/p>\n
Kids will love the bounce house, a variety of outdoor games and a snow cone truck. There will be live music, booths promoting local businesses and samples from Fort Worth brewery Hopfusion Ale Works.<\/p>\n
There is no admission to the picnic, but donations will be accepted to benefit reading programs at De Leon, Gordon and Ranger schools.<\/p>\n
The W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas, a Tarleton museum and research facility located in the historic ghost town of Thurber, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. The center is located at Exit 367 on Interstate 20 between Fort Worth and Abilene.<\/p>\n
