Texas Civic Ambassadors Program<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University student Andrew Fuller has been accepted into the Texas Civic Ambassadors Program.<\/p>\n

“I’m very humbled,” said the junior from Dallas. “It’s one of those things I’ve always wanted to do to — to be more involved in public service. It’s very exciting.”<\/p>\n

The only one of its kind in Texas, the program offers conferences, trainings and nonpartisan events. It is primarily youth-focused and taught by active political professionals.<\/p>\n

“Kids apply from all around the state,” Andrew said. “They pick out about 30 of the top applicants that they believe can create true bi-partisanship and exemplify political civility within the state.”<\/p>\n

Already active in campus issues, Andrew currently serves as vice president of judicial affairs for Tarleton’s Interfraternity Council and is in his second term as president of Alpha Gamma Rho.<\/p>\n

“Texas Civic Ambassadors encourages political engagement through voting,” he said. “It teaches us to respect other people’s opinions, beliefs and values, how to strengthen our own values and how to have those conversations with students who are not politically engaged.<\/p>\n

“Ever since I was a freshman at Tarleton I’ve heard about the core values,” he said. “Civility, leadership and service — Texas Civic Ambassadors encompasses all three of those.”<\/p>\n

Majoring in agricultural economics, Andrew hopes to attend law school after earning his undergraduate degree.<\/p>\n
