Third Annual English and Languages Week<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Daily presentations touting the value of studying English and foreign languages highlight Tarleton State University’s third annual English and Languages Week, Sept. 17-21.<\/p>\n

Each day guest speakers share advice for using English and languages courses to upgrade a university education, regardless of academic major.<\/p>\n

“Our goal is to show people across campus that all majors and disciplines can benefit from the skills learned through English and languages,” said Dr. Katrina Hinson, assistant professor of English at Tarleton. “Students can often easily pick up a minor in English or Spanish that may open more doors for a them when preparing to enter the job market.”<\/p>\n

Featured presenters include Tarleton alumni, English and languages faculty members, former students, current students, faculty from engineering, math, social sciences, and agricultural sciences, and the Corps of Cadets, along with educators and professionals from across the region.<\/p>\n

“With the input of faculty, staff, students and alumni, last year was very successful and we hope to make this year even better,” Hinson said.<\/p>\n

Daily sessions are scheduled for 2 p.m. in the O.A. Grant Building on the Stephenville campus. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday sessions are in Room 117, and Thursday’s in Room 119.<\/p>\n

Students and faculty from all disciplines, staff and the community are invited. Admission is free. Registration is not required.<\/p>\n
