Tarleton Experiences Enrollment Increase<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University’s 2018 enrollment remains on pace to support student success, improve the first-year experience and increase applied-learning and research opportunities. Based on the 12th day of class report, 13,122 students are enrolled for the fall semester compared with 13,011 a year ago.<\/p>\n

“This year’s slight increase in enrollment follows a steep growth trend of 5 to 8 percent annually for the past several years — still up 20 percent from 2013,” said Tarleton President F. Dominic Dottavio. “It is the result of a conscious decision to slow enrollment growth, giving us the opportunity to ensure we have everything in place to meet the needs of our students and ensure their success.”<\/p>\n

Based on preliminary numbers, this year’s freshmen class will be the second largest in university history — 2,500 students compared with 2,738 in fall 2016 and 2,445 last year.<\/p>\n

Fall enrollment of Hispanic students is up 4.3 percent, and the number of native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander students is up almost 7 percent. Reports also show an increase in the number of female students enrolled at Tarleton — 8,154 at the Stephenville campus and outreach centers in Fort Worth, Waco, Midlothian and the university’s online Global Campus.<\/p>\n

Of the 5,559 students enrolled to study online as part of the university’s Global Campus, 2,253 plan to take all their classes via computer — a 17.15 percent increase from 2017.<\/p>\n
