STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The annual Tarleton State University fall percussion ensemble concert, set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 in the auditorium of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center on the Stephenville campus, offers something for everyone.<\/p>\n
The concert features a variety of works ranging from tropical music by Jimmy Buffett to contemporary theatrical works.<\/p>\n
Tickets are $5 or free with a Tarleton ID. The box office opens one hour before the beginning of the concert, and all seating is general admission.<\/p>\n
The group will perform the first work ever written for percussion ensemble from Alexander Tcherepnin’s Symphony No. 1 as well as contemporary masterworks by Cangelosi, Ford and others.<\/p>\n
Dr. Benjamin Charles, who directs the percussion ensemble, performs “Uneven Souls” by Nebojsa Zikovic, an epic 15-minute solo for marimba and percussion trio, with guests from the Tarleton choral program under the direction of Dr. Troy Robertson.<\/p>\n
The Tarleton steel band will perform Buster Poindexter’s “Hot Hot Hot,” Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville” and the traditional Jamaican folk song “Day-O.”<\/p>\n
