STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University’s Student Media will officially dedicate the 2018 Grassburr to two Tarleton Police officers in a Dec. 4 ceremony at the university police department.<\/p>\n
The 2 p.m. event honors officers who worked to recover a stolen external hard drive containing the files of the annual yearbook.<\/p>\n
On the weekend of Feb. 9, the Student Media office, located on the second floor of the Barry B. Thompson Student Center, was burglarized and the hard drive, a camera, two iPads, petty cash, a keyboard and mouse were taken.<\/p>\n
Investigator Stan Parker, Officer John Schloeman and several others with the Tarleton Police Department are credited with the save.<\/p>\n
“For the second time in 100-plus years of the Grassburr, the publication was in danger of not being published. The first time was due to the paper rations during World War II,” said Victoria Brown, last year’s Grassburr editor-in-chief. “The officers that worked on our case went above and beyond not only to find our missing equipment, but to save the sanctity of this beloved university tradition.”<\/p>\n
Parker and Scholeman will each receive a personalized copy of the 2018 Grassburr featuring a dedication to the two officers and a story about the series of events.<\/p>\n
“To many, this book is more than just pictures and words. It is a chronicling of years and memories that we will not get to relive and that deserved to be a documented piece of history,” Brown said.<\/p>\n
Light refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n
