Wells Fine Arts Center in Stephenville.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition, titled &ldquo;Consolation,&rdquo; explores the plight of South Korean comfort women through the lens of an other-worldly immersive sculptural installation with a garden of cast plant forms that appear as glass, a large-scale palanquin and hand-selected sculptures.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition closes at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, with a reception featuring a discussion by Kim and Dr. Marcy Tanter, a Fulbright Scholar and member of the Tarleton English Department faculty, discussing their collaboration around the consolation theme. Dr. Tanter will read selected poetry and Kim will be available to answer questions concerning her practice and the exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>Kim received a bachelor&rsquo;s in fine arts from both Hong-Ik University in Seoul, South Korea, and Alfred University in New York, followed by a master&rsquo;s in fine arts from Tyler School of Art.<\/p>\n<p>She has received an endowment from Savannah College of Art and Design for the completion of an on-campus immersive installation. She also participated in the prestigious John Michael Kohler and MacDowell artist residencies and in two trend-setting Miami art fairs, the SCOPE Art Show and Aqua Art Miami.<\/p>\n<p>Tarleton, founding member of The Texas A&amp;M University System, provides a student-focused, value-driven education marked by academic innovation and a dedication to transform today&rsquo;s scholars into tomorrow&rsquo;s leaders.
