Roberson (Approach the Drum Press); Marilyn Robitaille (Romar Press); and Amanullah Khan (Scheherazade Press). A reception follows.<\/p>\n<p>The Wednesday evening event is free and open to the public; other events require registration and\/or tickets. Visit&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/langdonreview\">www.tarleton.edu\/langdonreview<\/a>for details.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees may enjoy an on-going drone photography exhibit in the Gordon House by Fisher Rinderknecht and Brady Walker of Flight Reach Productions.<\/p>\n<p>A special dinner at Barking Rocks Winery at 7 p.m. Thursday features a reading by New Jersey native Sona Arora, the 2018&nbsp;<em>Langdon Review&nbsp;<\/em>Writer-in-Residence, a program sponsored by the Granbury Wine Walk.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Master&rsquo;s award-winning film&nbsp;<em>The River and the Wall,&nbsp;<\/em>is this year&rsquo;s film screening, set for 7 p.m. Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Conservation filmmaker Masters documents the last remaining wilderness in Texas as the threat of new border wall construction looms. He recruits&nbsp;<em>National Geographic Explorer<\/em>Filipe DeAndrade, ornithologist Heather Mackey, river guide Austin Alvarado and conservationist Jay Kleberg to join him on the two-and-a-half-month journey down 1,200 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets will be available online and at the door at Showbiz Cinema-Granbury. Commentary and discussion follow Friday&rsquo;s screening.<\/p>\n<p>The weekend festivities wrap up Saturday with the highly anticipated Champagne brunch, featuring Friedman, held&nbsp;<em>al fresco&nbsp;<\/em>on the Langdon Center grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Friedman originally found cult fame as a country and western singer, was chosen by Bob Dylan to perform with the Rolling Thunder Review, and was a musical guest on&nbsp;<em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1980s, Friedman found a new lease on life as a detective novelist. He also contributed a regular column for&nbsp;<em>Texas Monthly<\/em>beginning in April 2001 and running until 2004 when he began a Texas gubernatorial run.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, he founded Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch to care for stray, abused and aging animals.<\/p>\n<p>Friedman is being inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in November.<\/p>\n<p><em>Langdon Review&nbsp;<\/em>Weekend is coordinated by Drs. Moumin Quazi and Marilyn Robitaille with help from several benefactors, including the Inge Foundation and community partners such as the city of Granbury.<\/p>\n<p>Registration for the entire weekend is $120 through Sept. 1 and includes all readings and activities, plus a copy of the 2018&nbsp;<em>Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>One-day passes and single-event tickets for the picnic, dinner and brunch are available.
