STEPHENVILLE, Texas — It’s the biggest day of giving in the nation.<\/p>\n
North Texas Giving Day, an 18-hour online event designed to empower every person to support local nonprofits and other worthwhile causes, kicks off Thursday, Sept. 19.<\/p>\n
Tarleton State University is participating for a third year. Gifts will help the Tarleton Fund advance student-focused academic opportunities.<\/p>\n
“Giving to the Tarleton Fund on North Texas Giving Day is the best way to touch the lives of each Tarleton student no matter which campus, degree or co-curricular program,” said Janice Horak, assistant vice president for development. “These dollars generate enhanced classroom activities and transformational learning opportunities for Tarleton students.”<\/p>\n
More than a dozen programs benefited from the Tarleton Fund last year.<\/p>\n
To donate, visit www.northtexasgivingday.org\/tarleton-state-university<\/strong><\/a> between 6 a.m. and midnight Sept. 19. Donations can also be scheduled now through Wednesday, Sept. 18, and will be processed on the morning of North Texas Giving Day.<\/p>\n Last year the event raised $48 million from about 200,000 individual gifts to North Texas charities and nonprofits, bringing the 10-year total to more than $240 million. In 2018 donations were received from all 50 states and 20 countries across the globe.<\/p>\n Former Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki and his wife, Jessica, are honorary chairs for the 2019 edition of North Texas Giving Day.<\/p>\n “The North Texas community has given so much to me and my family over the last 21 years,” Nowitzki said, “and we can’t think of a better way to get involved in the community that has supported me on and off the court.”<\/p>\n Tarleton, founding member of The Texas A&M University System, provides a student-focused, value-driven education marked by academic innovation and a dedication to transform today’s scholars into tomorrow’s leaders.
