STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University’s Department of Fine Arts presents a faculty recital featuring trumpet professor Dr. Brian Walker and vocal professor Heather Hawk.<\/p>\n
The event takes place at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in the theater of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center in Stephenville. Admission is free.<\/p>\n
The duo will present works by Wagner, Neruda and Heggie, among others. Enjoy various genres of music, including a multi-media piece.<\/p>\n
Walker has appeared with the Dallas Wind Symphony and the Dallas Opera, along with chamber orchestras in Plano, Allen, Arlington, Las Colinas, Irving, Garland and Dallas.<\/p>\n
He has performed with the North Texas Symphony Orchestra and the Grammy nominated UNT One O’Clock Lab Band.<\/p>\n
Hawk, a soprano from Killeen, captured first place at the prestigious American Institute of Musical Studies Meistersinger Vocal Competition in Graz, Austria, in 2016.<\/p>\n
Other honors include being a national semifinalist in the Opera Birmingham Vocal Competition in 2015 and placing first in the 2012 Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition.<\/p>\n
