STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Recent Tarleton State University graduate Etasha Smith has been awarded a fellowship from Alpha Chi National Collegiate Honor Society.<\/p>\n
Smith, who earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science in December 2018, was the sole national recipient of the $4,000 Joseph E. Pryor Graduate Master’s Fellowship.<\/p>\n
“We are extremely proud of Etasha for receiving the Pryor Fellowship,” said Dr. Thomas Faulkenberry, assistant head of Tarleton’s Department of Psychological Sciences and sponsor of the Tarleton chapter of Alpha Chi. “Her award is a great representation of what is possible for students to achieve at Tarleton State University. We expect that she will do great things in the future.”<\/p>\n
Alpha Chi has been invested in scholarly pursuits since 1922 and now annually awards 26 scholarships and fellowships totaling $74,000 to student members who submit their work to a rigorous, national competition.<\/p>\n
Smith was inducted into the Tarleton Alpha Chi chapter in November 2018. Potential inductees are invited from the top 10 percent of the junior\/senior student body.<\/p>\n
