STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Officer Brandon Burney is new to the Tarleton State University Police Department, but he’s not new to the Stephenville campus.<\/p>\n
Burney is a 2015 graduate with a degree in criminal justice administration and is also a former Texan basketball standout who still owns the single game scoring record for the school knocking down 50 points in a 2001 game against Abilene Christian.<\/p>\n
“It feels good being back,” Burney said. “I’m happy to hopefully help mentor kids who might need a little bit of guidance.”<\/p>\n
Burney, an eight-year veteran of law enforcement, joins the Tarleton force from Cedar Valley College in his native Dallas.<\/p>\n
