STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for the Industrial History of Texas in Thurber is hosting a free Halloween trunk or treat from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.<\/p>\n
Costumes are encouraged, and the event is suitable for all ages.<\/p>\n
Activities include prize drawings and decorating piñatas to be used next day at the center’s Folkway Friday. Children must be present to win raffle prizes.<\/p>\n
Children are encouraged to attend both events to learn about the people and culture of Mexico and the celebration of Día de Muertos<\/em>. Children must be accompanied by an adult at both events.<\/p>\n Folkway Friday takes place at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Nov. 1. The program features a PowerPoint presentation with pauses to allow children to sample tastes, sights and sounds of Mexico. Class concludes with a “field trip” to the parking lot to smash a piñata.<\/p>\n Follow the W.K.
