STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Area high school and college musicians have the opportunity to collaborate in a concentrated environment at Tarleton State University’s annual Brass, Woodwind and Percussion Day, Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center in Stephenville.<\/p>\n
The event kicks off with registration at 8 a.m. and features classes, ensemble performances and an evening concert featuring Brass Day guest clinician and performer Dr. Jason Hausback.<\/p>\n
Hausback is an associate professor of trombone at Missouri State University, where he directs the Jazz Studies Ensemble II.<\/p>\n
Prior to his arrival at Missouri State, he was active as a teacher and a performer in the Dallas\/Fort Worth Metroplex. He taught low brass at Eastfield College in Mesquite and at Brookhaven College in Farmer’s Branch.<\/p>\n
At the University of North Texas he was both a classical and jazz Teaching Fellow and directed the U-Tubes, who won the 2010 Eastern Trombone Workshop National Jazz Trombone Ensemble Competition. He issued their self-titled CD in the spring of 2011. Additionally, Hausback was a member of the internationally-acclaimed One O’Clock Lab Band at UNT and was on the recording “Lab 2009,” which was nominated for two Grammy awards.<\/p>\n
