STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University’s Department of Fine Arts and Theatre at Tarleton present “Next to Normal,” a Tony Award winning musical, Feb. 19 – 22 in the auditorium of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center in Stephenville.<\/p>\n
Performances begin at 7:30 nightly. Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for seniors, children and Tarleton faculty and staff; and $5 for students.<\/p>\n
“Next to Normal” is a Pulitzer Prize winning rock musical written by Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt that centers on a mother, Diana, played by community member Katie Rodgers, struggling with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects the disorder have on her family.<\/p>\n
The rest of the cast includes Cameron Bishop as Diana’s son, Gabe; Caleb Badgley as Dan, Diana’s husband; Rebecca Franko as Natalie, the couple’s daughter; Jenna Townsend as Henry, a classmate of Natalie; and Kody Lewis as Diana’s psychiatrist, Dr. Madden. Cheyenne Nash and Tyler Krumm are understudies.<\/p>\n
Stage manager is April Harlan and assistant stage manager is Shiann Reese. Associate professor of theater Carol Stavish is set designer and Jessica Privett is lighting designer.<\/p>\n
The crew also features Marcos Garcia, sound design; Rylie Fischer, costume design; and Mary Claunch, make-up and hair design.<\/p>\n
The Tarleton production is directed by assistant department head and associate theater professor Prudence Jones.<\/p>\n
The production is suggested for mature audiences.<\/p>\n
