STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences has re-accredited the diagnostic molecular scientist program at Tarleton State University.<\/p>\n
The re-accreditation efforts were led by the program director, Dr. Heping Han.<\/p>\n
The MS in MLS program with a concentration in molecular diagnostics prepares students to conduct the highest quality laboratory work in molecular diagnostics.<\/p>\n
“Molecular diagnostic testing is especially important now, as it plays a critical role in diagnosis of covid-19 and will be essential for ending the pandemic,” said Dr. Cherilyn Garner, department head and assistant professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences and Public Health.<\/p>\n
“Additionally, molecular diagnostic tests play a key role in cancer diagnosis and treatment, newborn testing and diagnosis of other infectious diseases. The theory, techniques and troubleshooting skills that students acquire in this program are in high demand in clinical and research laboratories and make the graduates valuable members of the healthcare society.”<\/p>\n
The program, headquartered at the Richard C. Schaffer Educational Building in Fort Worth, is part of Tarleton’s College of Health Sciences and Human Services.<\/p>\n
