High-achieving SOSU environmental chemistry and chemistry students will be guaranteed acceptance to Tarleton&rsquo;s master of science in environmental science program.<\/p>\n<p>Operated from the College of Science and Technology, the program is interdisciplinary and fully online. The pact takes effect immediately, allowing students to start in the spring.<\/p>\n<p>The program offers built-in \u00ef\u00ac\u201aexibility to suit the needs of students and their career paths within an array of related fields. With both thesis and non-thesis options, the degree works for students in any stage of their career.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;As our first memorandum of understanding with a regional university outside the state, this is a significant step for the growth and development of the environmental sciences program,&rdquo; said program director Dr. Ryan Morgan, head of the Department of Chemistry, Geosciences and Physics, which houses the master of environmental science program.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Anne Egelston, Director for Tarleton&rsquo;s Center for Environmental Studies, noted that Southwestern Oklahoma State is a regionally important institution in these fields. &ldquo;This agreement allows SWOSU students to integrate quickly into our master&rsquo;s program,&rdquo; she said, &ldquo;and we look forward to bringing more SWOSU students to our campus.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Tarleton plans to develop similar agreements with other institutions in the region as part of its College of Graduate Studies.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Credence Baker, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, said these types of transfer agreements are important, as they confirm a reputation for program collaborations, not only in North Texas but across state lines.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;SWOSU is well known for their quality chemistry programs,&rdquo; he added, &ldquo;and I am pleased to be able to welcome their bachelor&rsquo;s graduates to our master&rsquo;s of environmental science program.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Additional MOUs and articulation agreements are being developed with several universities across Texas as Tarleton continues to cultivate programs that meet regional and state workforce needs.<\/p>\n<p>Tarleton, founding member of The Texas A&amp;M University System, provides a student-focused, value-driven education marked by academic innovation and a dedication to transform today&rsquo;s scholars into tomorrow&rsquo;s leaders.
