STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014\u00a0An exhibit of traditional and art quilts in the Clyde Wells Fine Arts Center Gallery at Tarleton State University features the work of area quilters, the Dublin Rippers.<\/p>\n
The exhibit runs through Aug. 20. Admission is free.<\/p>\n
The Rippers began as a weekly bee, where friends gathered to work on their projects and talk. The pandemic stopped the meetings for over a year, which halted most of the talking, but not the making.<\/p>\n
Longtime quilter Hazel Ashcraft concentrates on quilted home decor.\u00a0Peggy DeLaVergne\u2019s quilts were featured in the Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas, Vol. 12, 2015-2016.\u00a0Suzann Thompson specializes in crochet and knitting, and began incorporating those crafts into wall quilts in the 1990s. Her work was featured in the Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas, Vol. 14, 2017-2018.<\/p>\n
Elaine Fields Smith created a music-themed quilt to raise funds for the Stephenville Music Club. Raffle tickets will be available at the opening reception July 29.<\/p>\n
