STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014\u00a0Tarleton State University is all about tradition, and nothing says Texan tradition like Homecoming.<\/p>\n
This year features an attempt to draw 15,000 fans to the Saturday, Oct. 23, football game to set an attendance record at an FCS Western Athletic Conference home game.<\/p>\n
Festivities began Sunday with the Lighting of the Smokestack, and they roll on each night of the week, culminating in the matchup with former Lone Star Conference rival Midwestern State.<\/p>\n
The Silver Bugle Hunt is Monday. The Launching of the Ducks and Purple Pancakes\u00a0are Tuesday, while the Yell Contest, Snake Dance and Beating of the Drum take place Wednesday. The Purple Out Concert and Midnight Madness\u00a0are on the menu for Thursday.<\/p>\n
Activities continue Friday, capped by the L.V. Risinger Memorial Bonfire. The Homecoming parade and tailgate party take place Saturday.<\/p>\n
Tarleton outreach locations have the spirit, too, with Fort Worth hosting its own Purple\u00a0Pancakes and its own Purple Out Picnic.\u00a0Waco plans a Homecoming Hoedown. Fort Worth, TCC\u2019s Trinity River campus, Waco and Midlothian will all celebrate with their versions of the Launching of the Ducks.<\/p>\n
