Tarleton State University math professors Dr. Bryant Wyatt and Dr. Chris Mitchell and their students achieved recognitions and rewards at the Texas Academy of Science 2022 Annual Meeting, February 25-27, at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Chris Mitchell chaired the Mathematics and Computer Science Section of the conference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Bryant Wyatt was selected to chair the Physics and Engineering Section for the 2022-24 biennium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Wyatt was the featured faculty oral presenter: \u201cSilicon Building Silicon: Dynamic Modeling of Dust Crystal Formations in a Complex Plasma using NVIDIA GPUs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cody Drolet, senior math major advised by Dr. Scott Cook: \u201cImproving Recombination MCMC for Texas Political Redistricting.\u201d Drolet won the Amir Moaz Award for Mathematics and Computer Science Oral Section for his presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dashon Mitchell, senior mathematics and electrical engineering major advised by Dr. Chris Mitchell: \u201cA Mathematical Model for Onchocerciasis and Resistance in Treatment,\u201d first place in the Biomedical Oral Section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aurod Ounsinegad, senior mathematics major advised by Dr. Chris Mitchell: \u201cDynamics of Eastern Equine Encephalitis Infection Rates: A Mathematical Approach,\u201d third place in the Biomedical Oral Section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gavin McIntosh, junior mathematics major advised by Dr. Bryant Wyatt, poster presentation: took first place with his poster presentation, \u201cSupraventricular Tachycardia Study Using a Dynamic Computer-Generated Atrium,\u201d top honors in poster awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
