Rose Ann Jackson Crystal Pencil Award & Classroom Grant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This award is in memory of one of our mathematics education instructors, Rose Ann Jackson.  Mrs. Jackson had a heart for teaching.  She taught all grade levels in mathematics and reading in public school before joining us at Tarleton to help prepare preservice teachers.  She believed in discovery learning, and she believed in making lessons “come to life!”  Mrs. Jackson’s family knows how expensive it is to setup a classroom and have all the manipulatives a teacher needs to help their students learn.  Her family honors her legacy each year by giving a graduating senior money to put into their first classroom.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The 2026 recipient of this award is Dimi Poulos.  Dimi is pictured with the award, along with Dr. Bryant Wyatt and Dr. Beth Riggs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Math Student Awards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation scholarship at Tarleton State University, sponsored by astronaut Charlie Duke and his wife, Dotty, is creating new opportunities for high-achieving STEM students. Senior Sadie Shudde has been selected as the first recipient to receive the $15,000 scholarship for the 2026-27 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
