It's time for spring cleaning once again, and the city of Stephenville aims to make tossing out the old an easier task with its recycling event slated for Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Municipal Service Center located at 1201 Glen Rose Rd.

Throwing electronics into the garbage bin is not the proper way to rid yourself of items that have broken or have become technologically out-dated.

The center will accept computers and their accessories, VCRs and DVRs, stereos and televisions. Dropping off CRT, or cathode ray tube, televisions will carry a $10 fee, and household appliances, including microwaves, will not be accepted.

Progressive Waste, formerly known as IESI, makes recycling a daily habit and accepts drop offs of newspaper, plastic and tin cans at their 1291 N. Bates location.

Drop off locales for Tarleton State University's recycling efforts are at the TSU Recycle Center on the College Farm Road and the Environmental Services Office at 511 N. Neblett. They accept paper, plastic, metal and various other items. Call 968-9708 for more information.

Erath Iron and Metal will take all types of metal including aluminum cans, soup and vegetable cans, scrap metal and iron. They can be found on Highway 377 South.
