Hurricane Harvey Student Impact Information

Tarleton State University is working to help students affected by Hurricane Harvey. Following is important information on resources for students impacted by the storm, as well as ways the university community can help.

The Division of Student Affairs currently is reaching out to all known students, faculty, and staff who may be impacted by the storm. If you, or anyone you know from the Tarleton community, is in need of assistance and has not been contacted, please call the Division of Student Affairs office at 254-968-9081.

Students unable to travel out of the storm area, should communicate delays to the Division of Student Affairs office at 254-968-9081.

Residence Hall Check-in

Students unable to travel to Stephenville and move into residence halls because of the storm should call the Division of Student Affairs office at 254-968-9081.

How To Help

The first week after Hurricane Harvey, the Tarleton community donated and collected personal hygiene items, which were taken to the affected areas on September 7th. As of September 7th, an estimated $940 has been raised through the Dollar Drive. Fundraising efforts will continue through the month of September.

Monetary Donations

A dollar donation drive is ongoing at all residential facilities on campus through September. Students, faculty and staff wishing to donate any amount of money to relief efforts organized by the Salvation Army or the Red Cross can drop their donations into several designated collection areas. There is a collection jar at the front desk of each residential neighborhood, as well as the information desk in the Barry B. Thompson Student Center. All proceeds go to the Student Emergency Relief Fund and the Salvation Army or Red Cross.

National Day of Service

On September 11, all money raised for the Dollar Drive will go directly toward buying school supplies for students in the affected areas. To donate, please visit a residence hall lobby or the Thompson Student Center Info Desk.

Alternative Spring Break

During Spring Break 2018, a group of students will go to the affected areas to assist with clean-up. If you are interested in participating in Alternative Spring Break, contact Erin Warner.
