Thompson Service Award<\/a>\u00a0is given annually to a faculty member in recognition of outstanding service to students, the campus community, and significant contributions to student-faculty interactions outside the classroom. Created in 1997, the award is named for Dr. Barry B. Thompson, former president of Tarleton State University and Chancellor-Emeritus of the Texas A&amp;M University System. Dr. Thompson was widely known for his \u2018open door\u2019 policy as well as his high level of commitment to students during his almost 10 years as Tarleton\u2019s president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility Criteria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Demonstrated record of exemplary support and service to students;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated record of exemplary service to the campus community;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evidence of significant contributions to student-faculty interactions outside the classroom;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least three years of service at Tarleton State University;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full-time faculty appointment, or administrator holding a joint faculty appointment who has no more than a 50% administrative appointment; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must not have received this award within the past five years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Barry B.
