In addition, VEVRAA requires contractors and subcontractors to list their employment openings with the appropriate employment service delivery system, and that covered veterans receive priority in referral to such openings. Further, VEVRAA requires federal contractors and subcontractors to compile and submit annually a report on the number of current employees who are covered veterans. The affirmative action and mandatory job-listing provisions of VEVRAA are enforced by the Employment Standards Administration&#8217;s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) within the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). DOL\u2019s Veterans\u2019 Employment and Training Service (VETS) administers the veterans\u2019 employment reporting requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/\">VEVRAA<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-advgb-accordion-item advgb-accordion-item\" style=\"margin-bottom:15px\"><div class=\"advgb-accordion-header\" style=\"background-color:#4f2d7f;color:#ffffff;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;border-radius:2px\"><span class=\"advgb-accordion-header-icon\"><svg fill=\"#fff\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" width=\"24\" height=\"24\" viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\"><path fill=\"none\" d=\"M0,0h24v24H0V0z\"><\/path><path d=\"M19,3H5C3.89,3,3,3.9,3,5v14c0,1.1,0.89,2,2,2h14c1.1,0,2-0.9,2-2V5C21,3.9,20.1,3,19,3z M19,19H5V5h14V19z\"><\/path><polygon points=\"11,17 13,17 13,13 17,13 17,11 13,11 13,7 11,7 11,11 7,11 7,13 11,13\"><\/polygon><\/svg><\/span><h4 class=\"advgb-accordion-header-title\" style=\"color:inherit\">Federal Veteran Category Definitions<\/h4><\/div><div class=\"advgb-accordion-body\" style=\"border-style:solid !important;border-width:1px !important;border-color:undefined !important;border-top:none !important;border-radius:2px !important\">\n<p><strong>Disabled Veteran<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This term means (A) a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under the laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, or (B) a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.<strong>Armed Forces Service Medal Veteran<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This term means any veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order No. 12985. Note: With respect to this category, contractors may want to consider requiring veterans who self-identify as an &#8220;Armed Forces Service Medal Veteran&#8221; to provide a copy of their DD Form 214 otherwise known as their Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.<strong>Recently Separated Veteran<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This term means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran&#8217;s discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.<strong>Other Protected Veteran<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This term means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service during a war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized, under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-advgb-accordion-item advgb-accordion-item\" style=\"margin-bottom:15px\"><div class=\"advgb-accordion-header\" style=\"background-color:#4f2d7f;color:#ffffff;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;border-radius:2px\"><span class=\"advgb-accordion-header-icon\"><svg fill=\"#fff\" style=\"border-style:solid !important;border-width:1px !important;border-color:undefined !important;border-top:none !important;border-radius:2px !important\">\n<p>An eligible veteran, surviving spouse of a veteran or an orphan of a veteran is entitled to preference in the selection process over other applicants who do not have greater qualifications:<strong>Veteran<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An individual who served in the military for not less than 90 consecutive days during a national emergency declared in accordance with federal law or was discharged from military service for an established service-connected disability; was honorably discharged from military service; and is competent.<strong>Surviving Spouse of a Veteran<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A person who is the spouse of a veteran who was killed while on active duty; veteran served in the military for not less than 90 consecutive days during a national emergency; the spouse has not remarried and is competent.<strong>Orphan of a Veteran<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A person who is the child of a veteran who was killed while on active duty; veteran served in the military for not less than 90 consecutive days during a national emergency; and is competent.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-advgb-accordion-item advgb-accordion-item\" style=\"margin-bottom:15px\"><div
