Our Mission

To foster continual improvement for all Tarleton employees through flexible, adaptive training and development opportunities.

Types of Training & Development

Tarleton’s Employee Services Training & Development Team works in a collaborative effort with the University to deliver exceptional and relevant training targeted towards current and future needs. We are proactive in creating and delivering training that supports Tarleton’s commitment to employee development.

TrainTraq

TrainTraq is an online training portal used by all A&M System members to deliver training content. TrainTraq is accessed through your Single Sign On Menu.

In accordance with Texas A&M System Regulation 33.05.02, all Tarleton State University employees are required to take the courses listed below within 30 days of hire. Employees may also be required by their department heads and supervisors to complete additional training based on their job duties.

  • Orientation to the A&M System (one time requirement)
  • Creating a Discrimination Free Workplace/EEO (every 2 years)
  • Ethics (every 2 years)
  • Reporting Fraud, Waste and Abuse (every 4 years)
  • Information Security Awareness (every year)
  • Title IX (every year)
  • Clery Act (every year)
  • FERPA (every year)
  • Export Controls & Embargo Training – Basic Course (every 2 years)
Workday Help

Workday unifies finance and human resources for all students, faculty and staff. It is a lifecycle management cloud application designed for the way people work in today’s organizations. 

Employee Services provides several ways to assist you in navigating Workday such as:

  • Working in Workday TrainTraq module assignments for all new employees and new managers.
  • Job Aids and Reference guides on the Workday Help site accessed via SSO.
  • Access anywhere using Mobile App
Software Application Spotlight

Each semester, the Office of Training and Development coordinates different speakers from across campus to discuss their software applications.

Leadership Series

Our Leadership Series webinars provide development for any employee who is seeking a leadership role or is currently in need of leadership guidance. Examples of topics include Tools for Leading Teams, Leading Culture Change, and Transitioning to a Leadership Role.

Procurement Card and Travel Training

Procurement Card Training for New Users/Refresher Training will cover correct use of the procurement card, allocations, and delegations. Procurement Card Training for Approvers covers appropriate naming of reports, and common reporting errors. Travel Card Training/Reporting will cover travel card uses and reporting. Questions are covered during each training.

Performance Management Training

Performance Management training for Employees covers the performance evaluation process and cycle, SMART goals and the importance of a detailed evaluation. Performance Management training for Managers outlines the process and cycle, SMART goals, and the importance of an accurate rating and detailed evaluation. Questions are covered during each training.

Learning and growth is a journey and life-long process. Tarleton State University is committed to your professional and personal development and is now proud to offer LinkedIn Learning for free to all staff and faculty across campus!

Driver Safety Training

Driver Safety training is on TrainTraq. All University employees need to complete 2114203 : Driver and Travel Safety Training – Tarleton in TrainTraq using Single-Sign on. All non-University employees will complete 2114203 : Driver and Travel Safety Training - Tarleton in the TrainTraq external gateway. Please email employeedevelopment@tarleton.edu for the TrainTraq external gateway link and password.

How to Request a New Training

You may request training by simply asking your supervisor or by sending an email request to employeedevelopment@tarleton.edu Your supervisor may approve your request to attend a specific class offered outside of the University or if it is a class offered on campus, but is not scheduled, the supervisor should forward the request to Employee Services. If you see training or development needs that are not being met, please contact us for assistance.
