Dr. Luera was born and raised in Colorado City, Texas. As a first-generation student, Dr. Luera completed his bachelor&#8217;s and master&#8217;s degrees at Texas Tech University and obtained his doctoral degree at Oklahoma State University in 2020. He is now in his fourth year as a full-time faculty member at TSU and is the faculty advisor for the Kinesiology Research Organization, the Student Research Association, and the Tarleton Barbeque Association. Dr. Luera&#8217;s research interests focus on the neuromuscular adaptations and biomechanical analysis of human movement, exercise, and rehabilitation. His lab houses state of the art equipment to assess electrophysiology and measure skeletal muscle force production. He is a new dad to his 4-month-old daughter Lousia and spouse to his wonderful wife Rebecca. Dr. Luera&#8217;s hobbies include research, sports and exercise, hunting and fishing, and barbequing. I am a HPL intern in my senior year of my undergraduate studies. My current interests are exercise physiology and biomechanics.
